Suleman - Driver & Installer
Suleman had been a market trader since leaving school, but with the recession and out of town shopping, he found himself unemployed for the first time in his life. He’d always enjoyed the driving side of his job, so decided to look for work in that area. He saw a job at BrightHouse, got an interview and started the next day…
“I was over the moon to get an interview. I started as a Driver’s mate and did that for 12 months - then they put me through the 7.5 tonne licence so I could drive the big vans. I passed last August. The company has paid for all of that. It was something I wanted to do when I was job-seeking, but it costs about £1,500.
Money-wise now, it’s a lot less stress with a wage coming in. I like coming in every day - the lads are great, you can have a laugh and a joke on the road and time flies. I’ve moved up after I passed the licence so I drive now, unless it’s an agency driver, then I’ll be the Driver’s mate - get the paperwork and phoning done.
You can’t be afraid of hard work, it’s a physical job. I love it. Everyone gets on here. BrightHouse gave me a chance where no one else did.”
