Steve - Supply Chain Operations Manager

Steve's Story

Steve spent 16 years with an electrical retailer, finally running a service centre and home delivery platform. He learned about an opportunity at BrightHouse through an ex-colleague. Since joining, he has developed and grown as a manager, even at the age of 50...

The opportunity was based at the National Distribution Centre in Manchester. This is where new product comes in from the suppliers - or returned product from stores and customers for repair and refurbishment. The facility provides a service for over 280 retail stores.

When I came in to look after the white goods workshop, I quickly recognised some real stars amongst the staff and knew that - given the right environment, support and opportunity - these genuine, honest people who wanted to work as a team would thrive, grow and flourish. We’ve come a long way in a short time and it’s night and day now - compared to how it was.

The business has also given me the opportunity to develop. I’ve recently increased my responsibilities to manage the spares department, where a similar transformation is taking place. We’ve made many improvements in performance and housekeeping, and continue to grow with lots of great new ideas all achieved by working together and moving in the same direction.

The people are fabulous and a real inspiration. It’s a great place to work - even though it’s just a warehouse in the middle of Trafford Park!  We also do things together outside work – meet for social events, raise funds for charity by cycling from Manchester to Liverpool, organise a site BBQ (which was a real success and great fun).”
